Meet your Queens!
Bernie de Bra
With 35 years in the entertainment industry Mark Stuart-Wood has had a taste of just about every aspect of the industry. From writing his own musical "If I can Dream", which premiered at the Lowry theatre to performing to 13 million people in the live finals of Britain's Got Talent TV show as the drag act Bosom Buddies.
As an actor Mark performed the role of the cowardly lion at Cardiff Millennium Theatre with great reviews, to the role of Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar for the Forward Theatre Company. He has performed the role of Fagin 3 times firstly in the original Dickens story at Wakefield theatre and then in the musical at Southport theatre and the Middleton arena, Manchester.
As a director and teacher Mark is well placed to understand the process of accessing character in a fun and holistic way. He hopes everyone will discover, not only, a new aspect of their personality but to be able take something away with them to enjoy in life in general.
Peggy Eighteen
Peggy Eighteen (Chris) is a wig dresser and maker who's worked freelance, on tour and on the West End. She’s been on many tours over the years but recently she has joined the cast of 9 to 5, Anything Goes and Pretty Woman in Town! As the queen of the wig quick change she has lots of experience to share! Wigs are Peggy’s thing and even has a room at home with hundreds of wigs in.
Her wigs have turned up on the heads of people such as Imogen Heap, Celebrity Juice's Keith Lemon and YouTuber Trisha Paytas. Every Halloween she sees a new generation of dozens of her Winifred Sandersons and Mrs Doubtfires being sent out into the world!
May Hemme
May Hemme is an established queen in the form of a blonde bombshell. A singer by trade she’s ended up in all sorts of venues, including singing on board The Northern Belle train and on Carnforth station platform. As you do. She’s sung all over the UK and even across the pond in the good ol’ US of A.
May has a real love for the vintage look but with a true drag twist. She has learned her make-up skills from seasoned professional drag artists and understands how intimidating it can all feel when you first start out. She will talk you through the basics to help you create your look in order for you to develop and find your queen. You’ll have time to ask questions and she will make the scary seem easy.
