OUR SURROUNDINGS

One of the things that makes High Trenhouse so special is the incredible landscape it sits in. From our doorstep, you will find a circular walk around Malham Tarn - the highest freshwater lake in England.

While on that walk you'll also find the Boardwalk, a wonderful raised walkway in the National Trust Nature Reserve, winding its way through the wetter areas near the edge of the Tarn.

Malham Cove

MALHAM COVE,

GORDALE SCAR &

JANET'S FOSS

The village of Malham is less than 10 minutes drive away from High Trenhouse and arguably boasts some of the most spectacular scenery in the Dales. Malham Cove is a unique limestone rock formation with walks to suit all abilities. Gordale Scar and Janet's Foss are waterfalls along Gordale Beck, both are well worth a visit.

THE PENNINE WAY

The Pennine Way is a national trail that is described as being "one of Britain's best known and toughest" trails. It stretches from the Peak District up to just inside the Scottish Border.

We're lucky that the trail around Malham Tarn is part of the Pennine Way and one of the slightly easier sections to traverse. This part of the trail also leads down, or up, the side of Malham Cove, so it's worth exploring.
