Modern Slavery Policy

1. Purpose of This Policy

Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It takes various forms, including slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, and human trafficking. Training and Retreats Limited is committed to acting ethically, with integrity, and with transparency in all business dealings. This policy outlines our zero tolerance approach to modern slavery and the steps we take to prevent it within our operations and supply chains.

2. Our Business

Training and Retreats Limited is a rural hotel providing accommodation, dining, and hospitality services. While our business is small in scale, we recognise that the hospitality sector can be vulnerable to labour exploitation. We take our responsibilities seriously and are committed to ensuring that all workers — whether directly employed or working through suppliers — are treated fairly and lawfully.

3. Our Commitment

We are committed to:

  • Ensuring there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in any part of our business.
  • Conducting our operations with respect for human rights.
  • Working only with suppliers and contractors who uphold the same standards.
  • Continually improving our practices to identify and address risks.

4. Employment Practices

We maintain robust employment procedures to protect staff, including:

  • Verifying the identity and righttowork status of all employees.
  • Providing fair wages that exceed the National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage.
  • Ensuring all staff have written terms and conditions of employment.
  • Prohibiting recruitment fees or deductions that could create debt bondage.
  • Providing a safe and supportive working environment.

5. Supply Chain Standards

Although our supply chain is relatively small, it includes food and beverage suppliers, laundry services, maintenance contractors, and seasonal labour providers. To reduce risk, we:

  • Work with reputable suppliers who comply with UK employment law.
  • Expect suppliers to confirm that they do not engage in modern slavery or human trafficking.
  • Reserve the right to terminate relationships with suppliers who fail to meet these standards.

6. Identifying and Managing Risk

We monitor areas of potential risk, including:

  • Seasonal or temporary labour.
  • Outsourced services such as cleaning or maintenance.
  • Suppliers sourcing goods from higherrisk regions or industries.

Where risks are identified, we take proportionate steps to investigate and address them.

7. Training and Awareness

We ensure that:

  • Managers and supervisors understand the signs of modern slavery.
  • Staff know how to report concerns confidentially.
  • Awareness is maintained through periodic reminders and updates.

8. Reporting Concerns

We encourage anyone working for or with Training and Retreats Limited to raise concerns about modern slavery. Reports can be made confidentially to:

  • Managing Director
  • The Owner/Director

All concerns will be taken seriously and investigated promptly. We will support anyone who raises a concern in good faith.

9. Compliance and Review

This policy is reviewed annually to ensure it remains effective and aligned with legal requirements and best practice. Updates will be communicated to staff and suppliers as needed.
